Tube Cleaning

do you skip the critical step of tube cleaning?

Cleanliness is essential in many hydraulic, pneumatic and fluid transfer systems. Even small amounts of contamination can affect performance, increase wear and reduce system reliability.

Manufacturing processes such as cutting, bending, forming and fabrication can leave behind burrs, swarf, oils and other contaminants that may affect product quality, assembly efficiency or system performance. Therefore, to achieve optimum performance and product quality, tube components often require cleaning and surface preparation.

Surface preparation for smooth finishing.

Surface preparation is an essential step in achieving high-quality finishing, coating and assembly results. Properly prepared surfaces improve coating adhesion, enhance appearance and help maximise the effectiveness of subsequent manufacturing processes.

At Listertube, we offer a range of tube cleaning and surface preparation services designed to remove contamination, improve surface finishes and prepare components for their intended application. Whether supporting fluid power systems, fabrication projects or specialist engineering applications, our cleaning processes help ensure components are supplied ready for production, assembly or installation.

Deburring

Following cutting operations, sharp edges and burrs can form on tube ends and cut features. To remove these imperfections and improve both safety and component quality, we utilise:

  • RSA deburring technology
  • Vibro deburring processes

Deburring helps create a smooth, consistent finish while preparing components for subsequent manufacturing, assembly or installation processes.

Pelleting

For fluid power and other cleanliness-critical applications, we utilise Compri Clean Technology to achieve high standards of internal tube cleanliness.

This process uses specialist foam pellets passed through the tube to remove debris and contamination from internal surfaces, helping to achieve cleanliness levels up to NAS 7.

Pelleting is particularly beneficial for hydraulic, pneumatic and fluid transfer systems where contamination control is essential.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

For smaller components, we offer heated ultrasonic bath cleaning.

Using high-frequency sound waves and a heated cleaning solution, ultrasonic cleaning effectively removes contaminants from both internal and external surfaces, including difficult-to-reach areas.

This process is ideal for components that require a high degree of cleanliness prior to assembly or use.

Shot Blasting

We also utilise a Guyson shot blasting system to prepare tube and fabricated components for subsequent processing.

Shot blasting can be used to:

  • Remove surface contamination
  • Improve surface consistency
  • Create a keyed surface for coating adhesion
  • Produce a peened surface finish where required

This process is frequently used where enhanced surface preparation or finishing performance is required.
